Selection Process
The recruitment of Specialist Officers (SO) in participating banks is done through three main stages:
🔹 1. Preliminary Examination (Prelims)
Conducted online (Objective type).
Different exam pattern for Law Officer & Rajbhasha Adhikari vs. other posts (IT, Agriculture, HR, Marketing).
Candidates must secure sectional as well as overall cut-off marks.
Marks obtained in Prelims are qualifying in nature (not counted for final merit).
🔹 2. Main Examination (Mains)
Conducted online.
Exam pattern depends on the post:
Professional Knowledge Test is the main focus.
Marks obtained in the Mains are considered for shortlisting for the Interview.
🔹 3. Interview
Conducted by the Participating Banks and coordinated by IBPS.
Candidates are assessed on communication skills, domain knowledge, and overall personality.
The weightage of marks is usually 80:20 (Mains: Interview) for final selection.
🔹 4. Final Selection
Based on the combined score of Mains + Interview.
Prelims marks are not included in the final merit list.
Final allotment is done as per merit-cum-preference and availability of vacancies in banks
