Salary
Entry Level Basic Pay: ₹56,100 per month.
In-Hand Salary at Start (with allowances): Around ₹70,000 – ₹80,000 per month.
Mid-Level Salary: Between ₹1,00,000 – ₹1,50,000 per month depending on seniority.
Highest Salary: ₹2,25,000 – ₹2,50,000 per month for top-level posts.
Mode of Selection
The recruitment process for both IAS and IFS is conducted by UPSC and involves the following stages:
Preliminary Examination – Objective type test with two papers; qualifying in nature.
Main Examination – Descriptive written exam.
IAS candidates appear in the Civil Services Mains.
IFS candidates appear in the Indian Forest Service Mains with science/agriculture/forestry-based optional subjects.
Interview / Personality Test – Conducted by UPSC to evaluate personality, decision-making ability, and suitability for service.
Medical Examination – Final health and fitness check
